Notre Dame Baseball MOVEMBER
A Message from
BHS Baseball Alum (Class of 2013) - Ryan Lidge
Dear BHS Baseball Family,
I hope this finds you all well. It is a very special bond we share as part of the Barrington Baseball Family. I know how important the game of baseball is to many of you, and how important the community of Barrington is. I also want to thank all of you for the tremendous support you have provided me throughout my career so far. I truly would not be in the position I am without all of your support! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I wanted to reach out to you all to let you know about Notre Dame Baseball's partnership with the Movember Foundation this November. For those who have not heard of Movember, it is a foundation centered around men's health issues. As men, we do not talk about men's health issues enough. This November my teammates and I want to change that by raising awareness and raising funds through the Movember Foundation.
The men's health issues that are the main focus of this cause are prostate cancer, testicular cancer, physical inactivity, and men's mental health. Our motivation as a team is the well-being of each of our Notre Dame baseball brothers. For myself, I also extend that motivation to my Barrington Baseball family. I have played with so many close teams from Barrington. Due to the life-long bonds created in there, I can't help but think of those bonds within this topic. Our goal at Notre Dame is that we can have a positive impact on men's health today and in the future for all of the teams we have played on, as well as close family members we have been affected as well.
Today 1 in 7 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer. That means that on a college baseball team of 35 guys, or even a high school baseball team, odds are that 5 of us will be impacted by prostate cancer. Also, the main demographic of testicular cancer is men between the ages of 18 and 35 years old. The leading cause of death in men is heart disease, something that comes about through poor diet and physical inactivity. Personally, I have had several family members affected by these issues. This is why I am so passionate about this month long event.
Throughout the month of November we all have pledged to (attempt to) grow moustaches and remain physically active for all 30 days of November to draw attention to, and begin conversations about, men's health topics. The entire team has signed up through the Movember Foundation's webpage to track our physical activity and to track the growth of our moustaches. I invite all of you to visit our team page and track our progress. When you get to our team page you can view us collectively and also check out our individual progress. Below you will find my personal page. I don't have my mustache yet, but I'm getting there!
If you feel so inclined to donate to our team and join in our fundraising efforts, I know that your generous donation will not go to waste. My main goal is not just to raise funds but to raise awareness about all these important men's health issues that affect each and every one of us in some way. In order to donate, just click on the previous link, click the "donate" button, and then simply fill out the proper things necessary.
I want to thank you for taking the time to read about the Notre Dame Baseball team's involvement in the Movember Foundation this month and for checking out our team page. If any of you have any questions for me about the team or our involvement with the foundation please feel free to reach out to me at any time.
The December Schedule is being worked on and will be available soon.

BHS - Room To Be Determined
2016 BHS Summer Baseball
Parents and players,
The Baseball Coaching Staff has decided that the high school will NOT run weekend teams next summer, though the American Legion Post 158 team will continue as a viable full-week option for those players invited to join by Coach Gray. As has been the case for many years, the high school will continue to offer as many Monday-Wednesday teams as needed to meet summer enrollments. Players and their families are encouraged to pursue weekend baseball through other organizations and teams in order to ensure a full schedule of summer baseball; appropriately, participation on a weekend team elsewhere will NOT adversely affect eligibility or playing time at BHS the following spring.
Fall Baseball workout and sign ups will take place during the first week of school. More information to follow.
